Happy New year darlings! I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited as I am about a new year as I am about 2019. Since it’s a new year, I guess it’s only fair we start with everything new.
My blog has finally moved from http://www.olufisayoadeyemi.com to http://www.fisayoade.com, it’s been a long time coming and I’m proud of my self for making this move. So brace up for better and more consistent content, who’s excited about that? Well I am 😁.
Based on popular demand, I’ll be sharing tips on natural healthy hair practices every naturalista should know. They may seem basic but pay attention to them, it’ll make a huge difference, 2019 is that year our hair thrives. These practices include:
Caring for your scalp
People often forget that our natural hair is like a plant, and your scalp is like the soil. If your scalp is unhealthy it will affect your hair growth. When washing your hair, focus on your scalp, it’s important to wash away build ups. A clean scalp is key, don’t forget to apply oil, it’s advised not to use heavy oils like coconut oil because they can blog the pores, which isn’t healthy.
Keeping your hair moisturized
If you want to maintain healthy hair, keep your hair moisturized. If you desire better results for your hair in 201, don’t joke with moisture.
Using heat but keeping it minimal
The natural hair community have made it look like heat is of the devil, I’m here to tell you that heat isn’t such a bad thing if used properly. Heat might be good for you you especially if you hair hair is low porosity, you may need heat for products to get into the strands of your hair. If you’re going to use heat to stretch your hair, ensure that you use heat protection. The problem may not be your products, it could be that they’re just sitting on your hair.
Caring for your hair at night
Get a satin or l silk bonnet/scarf for the night. The regular bed covers are too harsh for your hair. A satin bonnet or pillow case will help protect your against the dryness that comes with friction. Do this and you can kiss split ends good bye, don’t be like me, I had to learn the hard way.
Trimm split ends
Stop pampering hair that shouldn’t be on your hair. Split ends never get better, they only get worse. Like you can see in the picture above, I needed a trim so bad, and I did to start off the new year. I wasn’t protecting my hair at night, it resulted to split ends and now I don’t joke with it
Follow product instructions
I’m so guilty of this and I’m not proud of it. I remember using a product that clearly stated “rinse out after two minutes” guess who waited 30 minutes ? Yes you guessed right, did ai regret it? Absolutely 😩. Don’t be like me, read and follow instructions.
What you eat will affects the quality of hair on your head. If all you eat is junk food, get ready for junk hair 😂. No kidding, let’s do better with our diet.
I’m sure they’re other natural hair practices that are not on this list, kindly share below. If you learned and enjoyed reading this post, please leave a comment below.
