A FALL FROM GRACE | 3 Lessons Learned

Hey guys, I promised that there will be a new post on the blog every Sunday, and I’m trying my best to keep my promise to you guys.

So I just saw Tyler Perry’s new movie, A fall from Grace; A dark twisted thriller, currently trending on Netflix, most talked about movie on on Twitter since last week. My sister and I haven’t recovered from the shock of the way the movie ended😂. I literally couldn’t stop screaming. I was going to post something else today but sorry this had to come first. I’m not here to drop spoilers, however, I’ll be sharing three lessons I drew from this incredible movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, please do.

Lessons learned :

1. Discernment is so important : When the Holy Spirit keeps bringing certain things to your attention, you just never know, please listen to those little promptings. When He’s telling you this person isn’t good for you, listen! Stop ignoring those red flags. Discernment is too important in navigating new friendships and relationships. Please I’m not preaching paranoia by the way, just be discerning.

2. Do your homework: No matter how trusting a person seems, do your homework on them, a little googling here and there, aka stalking 🙄, kidding but not really. Asking the right questions too is so important in navigating new friendships and relationships. Don’t get carried away by feelings, your feelings can never be good leaders, put them aside and use your brain too. Never let conversations be one sided, get to really know people.

3. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you’re young or belittle your days of little beginnings, it’s okay to start as a novice, just have a little faith in yourself, you never know what you’re capable achieving until you try. Don’t give up too easily.

There are others lessons I want to talk about but I’ll give too much away, especially for people who haven’t seen it yet, so I’ll just stop here ☺️

I couldn’t help but imagine how many vulnerable women have fallen for cheap scams that changed their lives forever, or worse took them to their early graves. It’s scary that these things happen everyday and I know a lot of people aren’t happy with Tyler Perry’s narrative, however he has found his voice and it seems to be stirring up conversations and these conversations need to happen.

I should also mention that I appreciate how Jasmine’s husband was portrayed, I feel both of them have some work to do in handling their conflict, but there was a balance to things I guess. I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll end this post by saying that ‘A fall from Grace’ is an amazing movie and everyone should see it.

If you have seen “A Fall From Grace” what were your thoughts on it ? Or what other lessons did you learn from it ?

Fisayo ❤️

  6. The movie was good. If you ask me, for an older divorced woman she acted too naive for my liking. She also accepted his proposal without even questioning why a young guy would be interested in a motherly figure like her. But of course, I’m not saying she deserves to be scammed, not at all. That guy was pure evil!

    1. Yes! She didn’t deserve to be scammed but she didn’t do her homework. Never met his family, no questions asked, nothing. She just married a stranger.

I have a million and one lessons from it, most importantly, always trust your guts and when certain things are happening in your life, go back to God in prayers and asked Him where you missed it.

I still haven’t recovered from the movie.

Thank you so much for this write up. It was a good movie I just want to add that Some of the things that I learned
I learned that we shouldn’t make somebody else’s urgency our own urgency because the guy just came out of nowhere from the blues and in three months he wanted to get married to her and that was quite fast especially because prior to that time she didn’t have any intentions of getting married she still had some healing to do. The fact that somebody came and just made her want to get married out of the blues to me is a red flag.
Spiritually if someone comes and says I have confirmation from the Holy Spirit let’s do this and is in rush,my dear that’s the more reason to calm down. When you rush, you miss important details.

Secondly I don’t know if Tyler perry intentionally removed that part from the movie but I noticed that he didn’t have any family or friends. As young women we need to love intelligently. You can’t be dating someone you don’t know his family, his financial status( not to be materialistic but if you are getting married finances should be discussed), his hobbies you just know you love him. All these Things are important to keeping your partner accountable. You are marrying someone nobody can tell what to do even Jesus. That’s cruising for a bruising.Even when he was misbehaving she could only tell her ‘friend’. If the guy had run away sef she won’t know where to find him.

Finally being single is quite hard as I am single myself but there’s a thin line between desperation and a desire for a beloved. When you notice you start getting desperate (you will know, you start thinking every guy that smiles at you is ‘the one’) be more accountable to your leaders. Be more careful because you are prey and you are vulnerable. Like you said be discerning

    1. Wow!!! Everything you said is absolutely correct! Thank you for sharing this, it’s quite scary how people can miss out important details when they’re vulnerable and blinded by the desire to be loved! Whew! God help us ☺️

Here’s what I learnt from the movie:
Discernment, just as it’s been pointed out earlier is really key.
One thing we as Christians have is the advantage of the Holy Spirit, and He’d definitely give us promptings an nudgings in the right direction.

Secondly, I love Jasmine’s relationship with her husband. It was so real. They were portrayed to have an honest and open relationship, where they could both be vulnerable, and I’ve come to learn that vulnerability builds trust.
He also didn’t hide the truth from her, when he felt she needed to get back into the fight and not give up so easily.
    He was also very supportive.

So much more I learnt, but I think thses are the things that really stood out for me.

    I completely didn’t see the movie end in the light it did. the suspense was epic. I learnt a lot of lessons;
Do not trust people so easily.
When things are happening so fast, take sometime out to pray about it.
As you said, do your background checks (ask questions)

    well done fifi.
